Meet Glenda Mueller, RDMS
Glenda began her college career by attending a small Liberal Arts college for 2 years and then transferring to Iowa. She graduated from the Radiologic Technology and Ultrasound programs at Iowa and immediately started working here in Radiology. Glenda is currently the supervisor in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at UIHC and has worked here for 37 years! Glenda states that she knew she wanted a career in the medical field: "I had gone through the Radiologic Technology program and realized I wanted something more. I chose sonography because I liked the imaging modality and working closely with patients and other support staff. I feel we are a direct part of the medical team."
Glenda’s favorite exam?
“My favorite exam would be an OB exam. It sounds bad, but I like working through difficult cases/anomalies. I also enjoy procedures. I used to do a lot in very skilled procedures like cordocentesis, fetal transfusions and putting in shunts.”
Advice for individuals interested in the sonography field?
“This is a great field to get into, I truly have enjoyed it and never wanted to do anything else. You are a valued member of the healthcare team. You have great patient contact and feel you make a difference in their lives. I can say some of the procedures I have done have saved babies lives.”
