Commencement Ceremony

The Carver College of Medicine’s Associated Medical Sciences commencement ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Graduates from the following programs of study (majors) will be recognized:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Medicine Technology
  • Bachelor of Science in Radiation Sciences
  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences
  • Master of Clinical Anatomy
  • Master of Clinical Nutrition

The UI Office of the Registrar needs to know when you are graduating, and we need to know if you are planning to attend/participate in a ceremony! Visit these important websites and complete all steps ASAP:

Step 1: APPLY for your degree via MyUI.  You must complete this step to have your degree conferred and to open the commencement attendance portal.

Step 2: RSVP via MyUI. Graduates must RSVP "I plan to participate" via MyUI by April 9 to be recognized at the ceremony.

Step 3: Upload a photo via MyUI (optional, for personal use, not included in the ceremony).

Step 4: ORDER your commencement apparel (scroll down to Carver College of Medicine) or attend Iowa Hawk Shop Graduation Fair on March 28 and 29.

  • MLS, NMT, RSBS: black cap, black bachelor gown, black and gold tassel with medallion
  • MCA: black cap, black master gown, black and gold tassel with medallion, medicine master hood (green velvet).  MCA grads may either borrow a hood from the MCA program or purchase one at the Iowa Hawk Shop.
  • MCN: black cap, black master gown, black and gold tassel with medallion, master hood (green velvet)

NOTE:  Decorated caps are not allowed at College of Medicine ceremonies.  If you would like to decorate a cap for photos, you will need to purchase two caps – one to decorate and one to wear during the ceremony in Hancher.

Step 5: ATTEND the commencement ceremony on May 13!!

The ceremony typically concludes around 3:15 PM. There is unlimited seating and no tickets are needed for this ceremony. If you or your guests need any seating accommodations for the ceremony, please email
