Combining talent and innovation with the comprehensive resources of our academic medical center, our surgeons provide exceptional patient care. We are advancing the field of cardiothoracic surgery through providing the most advanced clinical treatments and techniques, through participating in basic science research and through teaching the next generation of cardiothoracic experts.

While research has always been a strong aspect of the cardiothoracic program, clinical research is becoming much more predominant, and basic science research continues to thrive through the generous aid of our grateful patients and families.

Our ACGME accredited Thoracic Surgery Residency Program is a highly respected, nationally-renowned program at the forefront of innovation and technological advancement in cardiothoracic surgery. Our trainees are appropriately prepared for the American Board of Thoracic Surgery qualifying exams and graduates of this program are equipped to enter a fellowship, private practice, or to continue in an academic career. An increasing trend for our graduates is to obtain excellent fellowships in both pediatric cardiothoracic surgery and general thoracic/transplantation positions throughout the country.

Patient Care

Our academic medical setting enables our nationally recognized experts in the fields of adult/pediatric cardiac and general thoracic surgery to offer a broad range of Cardiothoracic procedures.
