Jacob Herrmann David Kaczka, MD, PhD
Jacob Herrmann, former PhD student under David Kaczka, MD, PhD, was named co-winner of the 2019 Rex Montgomery Dissertation Prize for his dissertation, “Frequency-Dependent Ventilation Heterogeneity in the Acutely Injured Lung.” Kaczka called him “a once-in-a-lifetime mentee for me, and I owe much of my own success to his talent and dedication to his work.”
The Rex Montgomery Dissertation Prize is awarded annually at the James F. Jakobsen Memorial Conference, scheduled for March 28, 2020. This event wraps up a full day of oral presentations and posters by graduate students. The Graduate College, in collaboration with Graduate Student Senate, awards these prizes at the conclusion of the conference.
Herrmann is now at the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Boston University, working toward a PhD in biomedical engineering. He is continuing his investigations into structural and functional heterogeneity of the respiratory system, specializing in computational methods applied to experimental and simulated data.
