A "fellowship" is generally a short-term opportunity (few months to several years) where you focus on professional development and it is sponsored by an organization. Fellowship programs are designed to support a range of activities including graduate study in a specific field, travel expenses to conferences, opportunities to explore different courses, and improve your curriculum vitae.
