Python for Data Analysis: Introduction to Pandas workshop

1. Overview

This workshop introduces the basic functionality of pandas, a library that provides data structures and data analysis tools for Python. The workshop is taught using Jupyter Notebook and will cover how to use Jupyter Notebook on the Interactive Data Analytics Service (IDAS).

2. Prerequisites

Familiarity with Jupyter Notebook, plus knowledge of basic concepts and features of Python, as covered in our workshop “Python for Data Analysis: Python Fundamentals” or roughly sections 3 to 6 in the official Python tutorial.

3. Eligibility

This workshop is available to current University of Iowa members who have an active affiliation with the University at the time of the workshop. 

4. How to register

Click HERE then log in with your HawkID and password. Click “Register now” at the bottom of the page to register. After registering successfully, an automated email with a Zoom link will be sent to your University of Iowa email. Registration will close at noon on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022.

• Operate on columns (cont'd)
• Create groups with groupby
• Sort values
• Reshape data
• Merge data

Day 3:

• Log in to the workshop computing environment
• Time series data
• Text data
• Missing data
