Skills for Educators Workshop: Evaluating Learners

This session will examine the types, reliability, and validity of learner evaluation from a personal (biases, context) and organizational (systemic, constraints) perspective.

Objectives:

  • Distinguish between feedback and evaluation, and explain why it is an important distinction
  • Identify the impact of the evaluation context/system on a particular evaluation
  • Describe how to evaluate learners fairly within the constraints of a given assessment system
  • Describe how to become a better evaluator
