Note: This event has been canceled. Please email obermann-center@uiowa.edu if you would like more information about the Humanities Lab opportunity.

The Mellon Humanities for the Public Good Initiative invites applications from UI faculty and partners to design a Humanities Lab. We define a “Lab” as an applied, experiential approach to teaching and learning at the graduate level that offers graduate students meaningful ways to connect advanced studies in the humanities with both a social challenge and skills valued in multiple career settings. The Lab grant will be awarded to one or more faculty members from humanities or humanities-adjacent departments and their collaborators who wish to host a Humanities Lab graduate course in 2023-2024 or 2024-2025. Funding is available to support planning teams and to support departments.

If you’re interested in applying, please read the information on the HPG website and/or join the Obermann Center Director Teresa Mangum for an in-person information session on Monday, Jan. 23, 2023 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Obermann Center Library--111 Church St.

Free and open to all.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events.
