NIH Public Access: Managing Citations for Progress Report Compliance

NIH Public Access: Managing Citations for Progress Report Compliance

Presented by Oliva Smith, Research Support Specialist, Division of Sponsored Programs

Whether you are new to working with NIH progress reports, or have been involved with RPPRs for years, join Oliva Smith of DSP for an hour-long workshop on using NCBI-MyBibliography to develop and maintain bibliographies for NIH public access compliance. Oliva will discuss how to add citations manually or via the PubMed search engine; how to associate NIH grants with NIH-funded publications; what to do with publications that are exempt from NIH public access, such as invited reviews, conference papers and editorials. In addition, Oliva will cover how to deposit the manuscripts of NIH-funded papers into the NIHMS-PMC system, where they are processed for inclusion in PubMed Central PMC (the NIH’s full-text journal article repository), and assigned the PMCID (the ID the citation needs to signify it complies with the NIH public access law).

If you have questions about using MyBibliography or SciENcv-Biosketch, please feel free to contact Oliva Smith in DSP at oliva-smith@uiowa.edu or 335-3708.

This workshop is open to all research faculty, staff and trainees.  Registration is not required.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact Sonya Housholder in advance at (319)335-8587 or sonya-housholder@uiowa.edu
