Cancer rates and obesity rates are both on the rise in Iowa. Is there really a connection? Join us for an interactive Mini Medical School Program to unravel the research and find out.

Obesity is a known risk factor for cancer and cancer progression. In this program, we’ll explore the links between cancer outcomes with obesity, with a specific focus on breast cancer. And we’ll investigate how weight shapes a person’s cancer treatment and experience.

This three-part program will help you understand breast cancer trends and how breast cancer development and progression is associated with obesity; gain insights into how weight influences the treatment, experiences, and outcomes of a cancer journey; and understand the link between obesity and muscle-wasting in cancer and its impact on survival in pancreatic cancer.

Register today online or call 319-335-8886.

This program is free and open to the public. This program is targeted to individuals 16 and older with an interest in health care, science, or research. No medical or science background necessary.
