Russell J. Ledet, MD, PhD, MBA, triple board resident at Indiana University School of Medicine, will deliver the Martin Luther King Jr. Distinguished Education Lecture during the 2024 UI Health Care Human Rights Week celebration.

The lecture will be delivered virtually from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the Kelch conference Room (1117) in the Medical Education Research Facility and via Zoom. The title of the presentation is “Bootless: A Physician-Scientist's Journey to Medicine and Advocacy for the Next Generation.”

Ledet obtained his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in addition to serving in the U.S. Navy for nearly a decade and obtaining his PhD in molecular oncology at New York University. During his medical school journey, Ledet co-founded The 15 White Coats, a world-renowned organization that helps to propel underrepresented minority students to medicine by providing inspiration and economic support. His personal journey as well as his activism and philanthropy have been recognized by numerous national media outlets.
