Coming out of the pandemic, health care in the United States has encountered numerous challenges and opportunities. There is a dramatic health care worker staffing shortage at the same time health care needs are anticipated to climb with aging baby boomers. Advancing technology has led to the ability to quickly respond to new infectious agents with mRNA vaccines; AI promises to allow physicians more time with patients; and telehealth has become more widely utilized and accessible. This program will provide a glimpse of what the future of health care may look like and delve into the research on the effectiveness of telehealth in providing care to patients throughout the state.

Mini Medical School is designed to provide interactive experiences coupled with an engaging lecture breaking down cutting-edge research and biomedical discoveries at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.

Space is limited, registrations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. This program is free and open to the public. The program is targeted to adults 16 and older, no medical or science background necessary.
