Spring Microbiology Undergraduate Poster Session
If you are a Microbiology major who has been doing research (in any lab), come share that research at the Microbiology Undergraduate Poster Session on Thursday, April 25 in the EMRB atrium from 3:30-5:30 p.m. There are good reasons to participate:
1. This is a great opportunity to present your research to your fellow students and Microbiology faculty and staff. You’ve worked hard! Share the results of that work with others.
2. For those of you who are writing Honors theses, this is an opportunity to organize your data and conclusions, and get some constructive feedback, as you are writing your thesis and preparing for the presentation you will give in May.
3. Most of you doing research will need to explain it to future employers, graduate or professional school interviewers, and others. This is your chance to sharpen those explanations.
4. You get to compete for the Markovetz award, which will be given to the student with the best poster presentation*. The amount for first prize is $150 and, for second, $75!
5. It’s a chance to get together and enjoy some refreshments (provided by the Department), see some exciting projects (including yours), and learn what’s been going on.
If you want to participate, work with your mentor(s) to develop an abstract of your research that is single-paged with a title, authors (and affiliations), and the abstract (300-word limit), and send to me by Friday, April 19. You will need to work with your mentor in putting together your poster, which can be printed using the departmental printer (contact: Elizabeth-Bishop@uiowa.edu) . The recommended maximum size is 42H X 48L inches.
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events.
