Next Generation Sequencing Interest Group - Biology at True Resolution: Resolving Complex Biology with Single Cell Analysis

Single-cell analysis has been broadly applied in studies that aim to dissect cell-type differences, investigate the adaptive immune system, or discover copy number variation and genomic heterogeneity on a cell-by-cell basis.  Single-cell expression profiling, using the 10X Genomics Chromium System, has permitted the identification of cell types that are important for disease pathogenesis in numerous disorders or disease states. Examples of how single-cell analysis has been applied to discovering and identifying pathogenic cell types associated with autoimmunity, cystic fibrosis, eye disease, hearing loss, neurological disorders, and cancer will be presented.  In addition, examples of how chromatin accessibility studies (ATAC-Seq) can now be performed at the single-cell level using 10X chromium system will be presented.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact Iowa Institute of Human Genetics in advance at (319)335-3688 or iihg@uiowa.edu
