The University of Iowa provides a High Performance Computing (HPC) environment with the Argon cluster. This HPC system is dedicated to open science and features 612 compute nodes with ~17800 processing cores and more than 300 graphics processing units (including GPUs and nodes that were purchased by investors).

"Intro to HPC (using Argon)" is a two-hour introductory session intended for anyone who plans to use Argon for their research, and features the following lessons:

  • How to make the most effective use of HPC resources
  • Connecting to the Argon cluster
  • Launching HPC jobs
  • Getting your data to and from Argon
  • Getting access to the software you need
  • Overview of resources available through XSEDE (US National Science Foundation's federated cyberinfrastructure)

This session will be taught by Sai Ramadugu from Research Services, and will include both lecture and hands-on training.
