The Department of Internal Medicine is pleased to announce that Mohammed Milhem, MBBS, will become the next Director of the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplantation, after serving as Interim Division Director for the past 3 months. Our decision to defer plans to launch a national search for a permanent Division Director was the correct one, given the qualifications, expertise, and talent Dr. Milhem so ably demonstrated in this role. We are confident that his tenure as Division Director will be a period of tremendous growth for the division, in every aspect of our tripartite mission.
Dr. Milhem will also continue to serve as Associate Director for Clinical Research within the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. He also holds the Holden Family Chair for Experimental Therapeutics, in which he maintains oversight of all the center’s clinical research activity, mentoring all oncology faculty in clinical trial development.
