Kamal Rahmouni, PhD, Professor of Pharmacology and Internal Medicine, has been awarded the 2016 Paul Korner Award by the International Society of Hypertension (ISH). The award, presented to Rahmouni at the ISH Awards Ceremony and Presidential Lecture on Sept. 28 in Seoul, South Korea, recognizes scientists who have made outstanding contributions to hypertension research in the field of neuroscience.
Rahmouni’s research focuses on the neurobiology of metabolism, energy balance, and cardiovascular function and related disorders, such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension. He is a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center and the Obesity Research and Education Initiative at the UI.
The award was established in 2013 and is endowed by the High Blood Pressure Research Foundation. It honors the late Paul Korner, an international expert in hypertension research. Rahmouni is the second recipient of this biennial award.
