Suneja Wins 2016 ACP Laureate Award

Since 1987, the Laureate Awards have been given annually by the Iowa Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the second largest medical specialty organization. The ACP strives to be the recognized leader in quality patient care, advocacy, medical education, and enhancing career satisfaction for internal medicine and its subspecialties. The Laureate Award recognizes a physician’s achievements and excellence in internal medicine in the state. Previous award winners have distinguished themselves through scholarship and research or outstanding clinical care. This year, the Iowa Chapter has honored Dr. Manish Suneja with the Laureate Award. As Director of the Residency Program in Internal Medicine, he has shown a remarkable dedication to his students. His compassion and ability to tailor his approach to each resident’s needs while still maintaining high expectations makes him a model for other educators.

In discussing what made Dr. Suneja the ideal recipient, ACP Iowa Chapter President and Director of the Division of Immunology, Dr. Scott Vogelgesang, said, “Dr. Suneja has clearly distinguished himself as an educator and consistently introduces innovations in the training of our next generation of physicians as well as being recognized as an outstanding clinician.” Please join us in congratulating Dr. Suneja on this well-deserved award.
