Dr. Mary Wilson has been awarded a four-year, $650,000 VA Merit grant, allowing her to continue her research into leishmaniasis, an inflammatory disease affecting millions with a death toll between 20,000 and 50,000 each year. Dr. Wilson will examine the behavior of neutrophils in mice infected with leishmaniasis and the role of the intracellular protein NLRP10 in resolving neutrophil-dominated inflammatory lesions.
