Mission Statement
Here at the University of Iowa Hospitalist Program, our mission is to provide high-quality care to our patients. We integrate clinical care, education, quality improvement, continued professional development, scholarly work, and health services research to improve health care outcomes for our patients.
- Patient Care and Service
- We are the inpatient primary care physicians, partnering with outpatient primary care physicians for seamless coordination of care.
- We offer the best in high-quality, cost-effective, and compassionate care to hospitalized patients to lead health care improvement and to support population health.
- Professional Development
- We provide individualized support based on the unique interests of our diverse faculty, encouraging growth along three tracks: leadership, quality improvement, and education.
- We develop strong mentoring relationships matched to individual career needs.
- Education
- This is a core piece of our identity as academic hospitalists.
- We teach organically during the process of health care delivery, but also through formal didactic teaching in the Carver College of Medicine, resident conferences, Department Grand Rounds, MM&I conferences, and national meetings.
- Scholarship
- We rigorously measure and evaluate determinants of high quality outcomes.
- We lead innovations in health care delivery and disseminate our results through high profile publications and meetings.
