Research Summary

Dr Macfarlane continues to contribute through clinical trials to our knowledge of hemophilia, hematology and cancer. He has completed projects the mechanism of the antirheumatic drug hydroxychloroquine and the synthesis and introduction of many of its analogues which inhibit toll-like receptors ability to respond to CpG DNA and RNA. Prior to that he worked on protein kinase C├čii and its role on platelet aggregation and triggering cell death, and protein carboxyl methylation, alpha adrenergic receptors and ADP receptors on blood platelets.
