Yuya Hagiwara, MD
Introduction
Dr. Hagiwara is a board certified Family Medicine physician with additional CAQ(Certificates of Added Qualifications) in Geriatrics, Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He has practiced as a rural family physician in South Dakota and also worked as a Palliative Medicine consultant, but decided to become an academic geriatric palliative care clinician educator. Dr. Hagiwara‘s primary academic interest is research in medical education with focus on end- of-life communication, advanced care planning, goals of care discussion and family meeting communication skills. He also has an emerging interest in the use of technology in medical education. He is currently enrolled in the Master of Academic Medicine Program at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. Dr. Hagiwara is also working on collaborating with Geriatrics, Palliative Care and Family Medicine training programs in Japan.
