Alex Sturtz's response:Alex Sturtz

"It is an honor and privilege to be named the Stinski Undergraduate Research Fellow for 2019. I am grateful for the support from the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and for the undergraduate research opportunities they provide. I would especially like to thank Dr. Noah Butler for giving me the opportunity to work in his lab and be actively involved with ongoing research. Dr. Butler and members of the lab have been instrumental in my growing interest in research by providing me with inputs and guidance. I plan to attend graduate school with a focus on cancer immunology after completing my senior year at Iowa."

The Stinski Undergraduate Research Fellowship is an endowed fund created with proceeds from a successful patent awarded to Professor Mark F. Stinski. Professor Stinski was on the faculty of the Department of Microbiology from 1973-2011 and continues his affiliation with the Department in Emeritus status.
