Three faculty recognized by the Carver College of Medicine with distinguished College Awards

Awards Ceremony story

Please join us in congratulating three faculty members in our Department on receiving three distinguished College Awards in 2021. We are extremely proud of our faculty’s accomplishments.

 

Dr. Rich Roller received the Collegiate Teaching Award - This award is to annually acknowledge members of the faculty whose activities and accomplishments demonstrate unusually significant and meritorious achievement in teaching during the academic year.  We recognize Dr. Roller’s long-standing and exceptional contributions to top-quality teaching in the College of Medicine and at the University of Iowa.

Dr. David Weiss received the Faculty Service Award - This award is to annually acknowledge a faculty member who has made a significant and sustained contribution to the College of Medicine in the area of service. We recognize Dr. Weiss’ outstanding contributions to the NSF-funded Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates in Microbiology at the University of Iowa since 2005.

Dr. Tim Yahr received the John P. Long Teaching Award - The award is to honor Dr. Long and his dedication as an educator, researcher and his tireless devotion to service, and to acknowledge and encourage a basic science faculty member who exhibits similar qualities. The award will stimulate future basic science faculty to emulate Dr. Long’s devotion to education, teaching, research and service to the University. We recognize Dr. Yahr’s dedication and devotion to education, teaching, research, and service to the College and University.
