CCOM Student Associations


The CCOM Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion supports several student-run associations that build support networks that include MSTP students.

Student National Medical Association (SNMA), which represents the oldest and largest medical student organization dedicated to people of color and underserved communities

Iowa’s Queer & Allied Medical Students (EQUAL Meds), a student group focused on education about health issues that pertain to the LGBTQ community

Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA), a national group which focuses on the unique challenges, obstacles, identities, and responsibilities specific to Asian Pacific American medical students and physicians

Association of Multicultural Scientists (AMS), a graduate student-run organization that supports inclusion of individuals from groups that have historically been underrepresented in biomedical research and science

Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA), a student org that aims to address the health needs of the Latino community, as well as to create an environment for recruitment and academic support of individuals in the health care professions who will strive to improve the access and delivery of healthcare to Latinos and medically underserved population
