Clinical Core

The Clinical Core has, as its primary goal, enabling SPORE investigators to bring the fruit of their scientific research to a clinical endpoint that will benefit patients both now and in the future.

Clinical Core assures that optimum care is provided to patients with NETs who come to the Iowa NET Clinic for advice or management of their disease and also is the direct translational link between research projects and clinical research emanating from these projects. Clinical Core serves as a critical link between patients with NETs and SPORE investigators through four main avenues:

  • Coordinate the design, performance and analysis of SPORE clinical trials
  • Review validity of new genetic, pathologic, and imaging tests developed by SPORE investigators, and coordinate incorporation of proven new techniques into new clinical trials
  • Enroll patients into the Iowa NET Registry, maintain the confidentiality and IRB approval of this Registry
  • Develop a multi-institutional, de-identified NET database to enable population science related to Neuroendocrine Tumors
