Joel Geerling, MD, PhD joined us September 30 as a full-time Assistant Professor. Dr. Geerling comes to us from Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA where he was a postdoctoral research fellow and staff neurologist. Dr. Geerling will be a member of the Aging Mind and Brain Initiative working on research related to discovering and characterizing the brain circuits subserving basic, homeostatic functions. His clinical work will focus on diagnosing and treating diseases affecting cognition and behavior, including neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's, Lewy body dementia, frontotemporal dementia, and multiple systems atrophy. He will spend his clinical time the Behavioral and General Neurology clinics.
