Allied Team Training for Parkinson’s Announcement

The University of Iowa Neurology Department will present the next Allied Team Training for Parkinson’s (ATTP) meeting March 27-30, 2019, at the Graduate Hotel in Iowa City.

The ATTP is a semi-annual national meeting to augment education of health care providers on Parkinson’s disease and facilitate interdisciplinary care. The meeting is organized by the Parkinson’s Foundation and offered by our recently designated Center of Excellence in Parkinson’s Disease.

The meeting is presented in a retreat/workshop format with about 100 to 120 attendees from across the country. Activites include:

  • Live patient/caregiver interviews and examinations by experts, followed by group discussion
  • Presentations focusing on early, moderate, and advanced patients, as the clinical picture and patient needs vary from stage to stage
  • Breakout sessions for each health care discipline
  • Group training for team building
  • Interactive plenary sessions by experts in each discipline

Continuing education credit, including CME, is available for the conference. The course is intended for professionals interested in management of medications and care challenges in Parkinson’s disease, including: 

  • Nurse practitioners
  • Nurses
  • Physical therapists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Social workers
  • Speech language pathologists
  • Music therapists
  • Patient coordinators or navigators
  • Physicians
  • Physician assistants
