Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center awards two Dorfman research prizes

Date: Monday, November 13, 2017

Miles A. Pufall, PhD

Two University of Iowa faculty have received Donald D. Dorfman Research Award prizes for their published papers on leukemia research.

The award is granted through Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa to a member of the cancer center who has published the best paper on leukemia or lymphoma in a peer-reviewed journal in the previous year.

The $10,000 award customarily goes to one author, but because of the exceptional quality of this year’s submissions, the Dorfman family has generously funded two full prizes.

The award recipients are:

Hai-Hui Xue, MD, PhD

Miles A. Pufall, PhD, assistant professor of biochemistry, for publication of “Suppression of B-cell development genes is key to glucocorticoid efficacy in treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.” Blood. 2017 Jun 1;129(22):3000–3008. doi: 10.1182/blood-2017-02-766204.
