ACADEMIC OBGYN LABORIST (75237)

Position Details:

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa is seeking a physician for an Academic OBGYN Laborist position in the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate to qualifications and experience. Responsibilities will include instruction and supervision of resident physicians and medical students. During shifts on Labor and Delivery, this physician will lead a team that provides safe, high-quality, cost-effective obstetrical care using evidence-based medicine and best practices. The multi-disciplinary obstetric team includes OB/GYN generalists, Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists, Certified Nurse Midwives, Nurse Practitioners, Family Medicine obstetric providers, Residents and Fellows.

This role will be based at the Medical Center on the University Campus managing the obstetric unit, staffing triage, labor management, and deliveries including operative deliveries. The position includes rounding on antepartum and postpartum patients, providing obstetric and gynecologic consultations to the inpatient and emergency departments, consulting for family practice obstetric providers and advanced practice providers. There are opportunities to be involved in obstetric quality and safety initiatives and committees.

A 1.0 cFTE position would require 12 shifts monthly (12 hours each) with opportunities to pick up additional shifts for additional compensation.

GENERAL OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY DIVISION FACULTY (75367)

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa seeks an Academic OBGYN in the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Responsibilities will include instruction and supervision of resident physicians and medical students in various inpatient and outpatient settings.

Preference given to those with interest and/or background experience in vulvar vaginal diseases, pediatric adolescent gynecology or pelvic pain. There is also opportunity for career development in those same specialized clinic services and/or clinical research interest in obstetrics and gynecology.

This role will be based at the Medical Center on the University Campus – staffing the obstetric unit, supervising the benign gynecology team and the resident continuity clinic, and providing outpatient care.  The position includes in-house and back-up call responsibilities overnight and on weekends.  The position includes rounding on antepartum and postpartum patients, rounding on gynecologic patients, providing obstetric and gynecologic consultations to the inpatient and emergency departments, consulting for family practice obstetric providers and advanced practice providers. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is accepting applications for a fulltime or part-time faculty member in our Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division.  This position will be either a tenure track or clinical track faculty position based on qualifications and academic rank will be commensurate with experience.  Responsibilities will include participation in the clinical and educational activities of the division including our fellowship.  Applicants must be committed to medical student, resident, and fellow education and clinical care of patients (including obstetrical ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, genetics and telemedicine) in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and our off-site outreach clinics.  Skills in obstetrical ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, and genetics are required. Clinical or laboratory research is required for the tenure track.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa seeks a physician for an OBGYN Hospitalist position in the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This role will be based at the downtown campus hospital, a low-acuity community hospital. Responsibilities will include obstetric triage, labor management, antepartum and postpartum care, emergency department consultations, performing emergency obstetric and gynecologic surgeries, post-operative care, consulting and backing up family practice obstetric providers, and certified nurse midwives. There is also potential for supervising residents, medical students, and certified nurse-midwifery students.

A 1.0 cFTE position would require 7 shifts (24 hours each) monthly, on average, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts for additional compensation.
