Dr. Marco Hefti was awarded the Overall Winner of the Supervisor of the Year award for 2021 by the Pomerantz Career Center at the University of Iowa. He was nominated by his students Kimberly Fiock, Amy Gottschalk, and Ryan Betters because of his dedication to mentorship. Dr. Hefti goes above and beyond to provide hands-on training and professional development opportunities, in addition to encouraging his students to grow both personally and professionally. In the few years his lab has been running, he has successfully mentored his students through a thesis defense and a comprehensive exam and helped a student win the University of Iowa Student Employee of the Year Award in the Science, Health and Engineering category. Dr. Hefti continues to exemplify what it means to be a supportive supervisor, and winning this award speaks not only to who he is as a mentor, but as a person.
