Dr. Siegfried Janz Receives an American Society of Hematology (ASH) Bridge Grant Award

February 18, 2016

Dr. Siegfried “Siggy” Janz has received a 12-month, $150K Bridge Fund Award from the American Society of Hematology (ASH), effective March 1, 2016.  The award supports the re-submission of a R01 research grant application to the National Cancer Institute, entitled “Biological validation of candidate myeloma driver genes.”  The initial application was highly scored but left unfunded.  ASH's award letter states that the “Bridge Grant Program was launched in 2012 in response to cuts to the NIH budget that have had a devastating impact on critical research…” and reflects “the Society’s commitment to protecting the careers of those who are dedicated to hematology research.”
