Kimberly Fiock, BS, MS, was awarded the 2022 University of Iowa L. B. Sims Outstanding Master’s Thesis Award in the Biological and Life Sciences. Kimberly was a graduate student in the Pathology MS Program from 2018-2020, and completed her thesis entitled “The Developmental Expression and Regulation of Tau” under the guidance of Dr. Marco Hefti. The award is conferred by the Graduate College and Kimberly will be honored for her achievement at the upcoming 2022 James F. Jakobsen Graduate Research Conference. She will also receive a $500 honorarium.
In addition to the Outstanding Master’s Thesis Award, Ms. Fiock’s MS thesis work resulted in two first author publications. Upon completing the Pathology MS Program, Kimberly entered the Experimental Pathology graduate program and is currently a second-year PhD student.
Finally, the Outstanding Master’s Thesis Award in the Biological and Life Sciences is awarded every other year. It is noteworthy that Kimberly is the fourth Pathology MS student to win this award in the past decade.
