Kimberly Fiock, an Experimental Pathology PhD student in Dr. Marco Hefti’s laboratory, has received a Women & Diversity award from the American Association of Neuropathologists (AANP). Kimberly earned the award based on submission of her abstract, “Let's talk pathology: harnessing the power of Instagram to connect the public to neuropathology in 60 seconds” which she will now deliver as a podium presentation at the upcoming AANP meeting in Bonita Springs, FL June 9-12, 2022. This project utilizes the social media platform Instagram to create 60 second videos that explain neuropathology concepts with accurate but accessible terminology to improve the public’s understanding of pathology. In addition to her podium presentation, the honor also includes a monetary award.
