The Pathology Clinical Laboratories work with the leading technologies and state-of-the-art equipment every day including automated blood banking instrument ImmucorGamma Galileo, Isolex Stem Cell Selection device for tissue and cellular therapy, Beckman-Coulter FC500 Multicolor Cell Analyses for Flow Cytometry, Dako Artisan and Autostainers for automated slide processing, and BD(Tripath) Prepstain Slide Processor automated slide prep for Cytology, Roche/Hitachi Modular Analyzer, Sysmex XE5000 and Cellavision DM96 Automated Microscope, and Iris iQ200 Automated Urinalysis System.
Our Core Laboratory incorporates total laboratory automation into the workflow for the tests performed in the Core Laboratory. This automation solution includes pre-analytical automation, a highly automated chemistry and hematology line of analyzers. We also employ image-based laboratory instruments for manual cell morphology and differentials and an automated urine microscopy analyzer. These capital investments have reaped rewards, transforming laboratory work by eliminating mundane and repetitive tasks. The laboratory is managing workload increases with no additional labor. Staff members enjoy viewing images on the monitor, finding it easier to teach medical trainees and querying peers about cells of interests. In addition unusual or interesting cases can be stored for future reference as teaching cases and for competency assessment.
The Pathology Research Laboratories house a number of core facilities to assist research investigators with their research projects. These core facilities include the Comparative Pathology Laboratory, the Clinical Trials Support Core, and the Histology Research Laboratory.
