Dr. Bermick earned her BS from Purdue University in 2003.  She earned her medical degree at Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health in 2007 after which she completed pediatric residency training in 2010 and completed neonatal-perinatal fellowship in 2013, both at the University of Michigan.  She is board certified in pediatrics and sub-boarded in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.  Dr. Bermick joins the University of Iowa after spending 7 years as a member of the Division of Neonatology at the University of Michigan where she was an Assistant Professor. 

Dr. Bermick will provide inpatient services in the Neonatal Critical Care unit, Neonatal transport and NP teams (Bay II/III), and level VI  service. Her area of research focus includes epigenetic regulation of the neonatal immune system and the impact of early life inflammatory exposures on neonatal immune system development and function. Dr. Bermick was just awarded two RO1s to study the neonatal immune system.
