The individual selected will join a faculty of 25 general pediatricians and will be responsible for the development and delivery of residency curriculum and clinical training in adolescent medicine; the successful candidate will provide outpatient care in a community based teaching environment and be responsible for the curriculum in adolescent medicine.

The Division is comprised of nine faculty, and is a national leader in research, with three successful NIH-funded investigators.  The Division works closely with the University of Iowa Center for Disabilities and Development, which has been Iowa’s University Center for Excellence on Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) since 1972. About the Division of Hematology/Oncology



The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics is a pioneer in the care and treatment of childhood cancers and blood disorders. The division has a long history of success in bringing hope to patients with programs such as our blood and bone marrow transplant, comprehensive sickle cell program, and comprehensive hemophilia center. The mission of the division is to treat and cure children and adolescents with cancer and blood diseases who live in Iowa by delivering personalized multidisciplinary, state-of-the-art care, through participation both in nationally and locally designed protocols. Within the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology/Oncology maintain, update, and ensure the quality of the Iowa Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center and the Iowa Comprehensive Sickle Cell Disease Program databases. Assist in coordination of the Annual Hemophilia Camp and Sickle Cell Symposium.




  • Reviews and analyzes patient medical records for data collection.

  • Maintains Hemophilia and Sickle Cell database by entering data and performs audits to ensure quality.

  • Designs queries and reports in support of research, patient care, and other projects.

  • Creates and maintains spreadsheets as needed. Uses spreadsheets to assist in visualization and analysis of research and other patient data. Writes simple VBA scripts to automate repetitive tasks.

  • Performs data quality reports to fulfill grant requirements.

  • Manage and organize regulatory documentation from sties and regulatory authorities, and prepare regulatory submissions.

  • Validate data, query resolution and make recommendations for resolution.

  • Maintains relationships with the Great Plains Hemophilia Region and the American Thrombosis & Hemostasis Network (ATHN) and prepares reports to these organizations as needed.

  • Attends Great Plains Regional meetings and the ATHN Data Summit, as well as webinars and conference calls.

  • Monitors patients' recurring clinic appointments and assists in planning of comprehensive clinic.

  • Composes communication to patients and providers as needed.

  • Designs and develops surveys for the Hemophilia Program, and compiles results.

  • Assists in the planning and execution of annual Amish outreach clinic.

  • Orders medical supplies for patient care and research.

  • Maintains Bloodline newsletter mailing list and mails quarterly

  • Prepares and presents PowerPoint presentations as requested.

  • Orders supplies, pamphlets and brochures needed for clinic.
