The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics seeks a physician in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at the rank of Associate (non track), Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor (tenure or non-tenure/clinical track).  The individual selected will join the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics to provide patient care, teaching, and consultative services. The Division is comprised of nine faculty, and is a national leader in research, with three successful NIH-funded investigators.  The Division works closely with the University of Iowa Center for Disabilities and Development, which has been Iowa’s University Center for Excellence on Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) since 1972. The Center for Disabilities and Development integrates a broad array of clinical services in one location, including developmental and behavioral pediatrics, psychology, speech-language pathology, occupational and physical therapy, social work, education, audiology, and nursing, and thus provides an ideal environment for exceptional patient care, education and research. The Center is also the home of Iowa’s LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities) program, and has provided outstanding interdisciplinary training in neurodevelopmental disabilities for over two decades.

Position Details:

University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics seeks a Pediatric Pulmonologist.  Appointment rank is open and may be to either the tenure track or clinical (non-tenure) track consistent with clinical experience and research interest.  Appointment rank to Associate of Pediatrics (non-tenure track) may also be considered.  The individual selected will join the Division of Pulmonary Medicine to provide patient care, teaching, and consultative services as a pulmonologist. 



The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is one of the top biomedical research institutions in the nation and ranked 42nd overall and 19th among public medical schools for NIH funding in FY18.  The U.S. News and World Report research ranking places the College 15th among public institutions for 2018, and the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics ranked 24th overall and 12th in NIH funding among all public pediatric departments nationwide in FY18. The ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program at the Children’s Hospital trains 47 pediatric residents.



The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics comprises the medical and research staff of University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, one of the nation’s top-ranked pediatric care and research institutions. It is the only university-affiliated hospital in Iowa devoted solely to the care of infants, children, adolescents and young adults, and is Iowa’s only accredited Level 1 Regional Resource Pediatric Trauma Center. In 2019-2020 University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital ranked in six pediatric specialties in the Best Children’s Hospitals U.S. News and World Report, including cancer, neonatology, nephrology, and orthopedics, and is the only hospital in Iowa to be nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report for children’s care. The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics is recruiting faculty candidates in all Pediatric subspecialties for its Program In Pediatric Research. The mission of the Program for Pediatric Research is to support research into the causes and cures of childhood illness and the improvement of child health. These tenure track positions will support promising investigators in basic, translational, and clinical research in any subspecialty of pediatrics, including Allergy-Immunology, Pulmonology, Cardiology, Child and Community Health, Critical Care, Developmental-Behavioral Medicine, Endocrinology and Diabetes, Gastroenterology, General Pediatrics, Genetics, Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Neonatology, Nephrology and Dialysis, Neurology, Pediatric Psychology, and Rheumatology, or any related area. Candidate’s rank will be dependent on qualifications and experience. The Program provides a generous start-up package, protected time, as well as mentorship for early-career investigators.

The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics seeks a transplant cardiologist at the rank of Associate (non tenure), Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor (tenure or non-tenure track).  The individual selected will join the Division of Pediatric Cardiology to provide patient care, teaching, and consultative services as a heart failure and transplant cardiologist. The current Transplant Team consists of an experienced senior transplant cardiologist, a dedicated Physician Assistant as well as dedicated nurse coordinator and MA.
