The division of Child Neurology is committed to providing excellent clinical care, educating trainees at all levels, and advancing knowledge through biomedical research. All child neurology faculty members are board certified in neurology with special qualifications in child neurology. Child neurology faculty members work together with pediatric neurology nurse practitioners and specialized nursing staff to deliver outstanding care in all aspects of child neurology. Faculty and staff work closely with other clinicians throughout the University of Iowa Health Care system to offer our patients comprehensive care. The division has particular clinical expertise in epilepsy, neurogenetics and neuromuscular disorders. As part of the Iowa Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, the division provides a full range of treatment and evaluation including ketogenic diet, vagal nerve stimulation, and surgical evaluation. The neuromuscular program provides multidisciplinary care to individuals with diseases of the muscles or nerves. Child neurology clinics are held in the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Specialty Clinic and in select outreach clinics across the state of Iowa.

The Department will seek appointment to the Children’s Miracle Network Professorship of Pediatric Cardiology. The Director will benefit from institutional resources and will have the opportunity to expand both the clinical and interdisciplinary research program.



The Division of Cardiology at the University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics provides compassionate, family-centered, and state-of-the-art delivery of care to children and young adults with congenital and acquired heart disease. Patients are followed through the transition to adulthood. Dedicated staff have expertise in acquired heart diseases such as cardiomyopathies, cardiac arrhythmias, blood lipid disorders, congenital heart disease, cardiac dysfunction in malignancy, and cardiac implications associated with pediatric obesity. The division provides the only expertise for electrophysiology, diagnostic, interventional and transplant services for children and youth in the state of Iowa. Skilled surgical support and exceptional critical care postoperative support has outcomes that have excellent results in national databases. University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics seeks an echocardiogram imaging specialist. Appointment rank is open and may be to either the tenure track or clinical (non-tenure) track consistent with clinical experience and research interest. Appointment rank to Instructor of Pediatrics (non-tenure or clinical track) may also be considered. The individual selected will join the Division of Cardiology to provide patient care, teaching, and consultative services as a cardiac imaging specialist.  The Division is comprised of thirteen faculty and six Advanced Practice Providers and provides sub-specialty care in ACHD, EP, heart failure/transplant and intervention with imaging expertise in fetal, transesophageal echocardiography, cross sectional imaging (MRI/ CT), targeted neonatal echo and 3D modeling. The Echocardiography lab is IAC accredited with over 11,000 echocardiograms are performed annually. We have an active ACGME accredited cardiology fellowship program. Patient care will occur at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, University Hospital and Clinics and affiliated community sites.

Clinic services provided within Pediatric Psychology include applied behavior analysis and treatment, neuropsychological assessment and brief therapy for health-related adjustment for a wide range of chronic health conditions. The selected individual will participate in the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents served through the University of Iowa Stead Family Pediatric Specialty Clinics, with opportunities to expand clinical services across divisions including in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Transplant, Hematology, Nephrology, and/or Neurology, depending on the selected individual’s experience and interest. In addition, the Department seeks to expand inpatient consultation/liaison service for pediatric patients who are admitted for acute or chronic medical conditions. The Division of Pediatric Psychology in the Department of Pediatrics has an established history of scholarship and clinical service. Clinical services provided within Pediatric Psychology include evaluation and brief therapy for health-related adjustment for a wide range of chronic health conditions, applied behavior analysis and treatment, and neuropsychological assessment. The selected individual will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams providing evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with a wide array of pain concerns served through the Pediatric Comprehensive Pain, Multidisciplinary Headache, and Abdominal Pain Clinics.
