Introduction
After his post-doctoral training at the Laboratory of Cardiac Energetics at the NIH National Heart, Lung & Blood Institute in Bethesda, Maryland from 1991-1993, Pediatric Cardiologist, Thomas D. Scholz, MD joined the medical faculty at the University of Iowa. His career at the university has included such leadership roles as Interim Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics (2011-2013), Faculty Fellow in the Office of the Vice President of Research (2013-2016), and Director of the Division of Child and Community Health (2016-2023). He currently provides pediatric cardiology outpatient services at University of Iowa Outreach Clinics in Dubuque and Cedar Rapids.
