Our department commissioned a Gamma Knife Icon for treating brain metasteses and other malignancies of the central nervous system. The device is able to perform Cone Beam CT while the patient is in the treatment position as well as perform frameless and frame-based Stereotactic radiosurgery. It uses over 192 beams to precisely target the tumor while sparing healthy brain tissue. With an accuracy of within 0.3mm, this is the preferred treatment modality of many CNS tumors
