Medical Student Research Day

Medical student Tutku Tazegul and Carryn Anderson, MD, his mentor presented research on the Dosimetric comparison of a JEI-Deep LOGISMOS algorithm to physician-drawn contours for radiation treatment of laryngeal and oropharyngeal cancers. This work will contribute to a grant proposal for clinical trial development.

Two FRRBP students also earned awards at the research day hosted by the College of Medicine on September 16, 2021

Jayden Bisson (Preceptor: Casey Pulliam and mentor Douglas Spitz, PhD) won the Borts award for an outstanding poster and presentation: “Combining Superoxide Dismutase Mimetics and Pharmacological Ascorbate Enhances Efficacy of Radiation Treatment in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer”

John Henrich (Mentors: Melissa Fath PhD, and Douglas Spitz, PhD) won the Larry W. Oberley Award in Radiation Oncology for his presentation: “NSCLC Patients’ Therapeutic Response to Pharmacological Ascorbate is Correlated with Markers of Oxidative Stress:
