Applications for away rotations in the Department of Surgery will be accepted beginning on 3/1/2024 through 3/31/2024, with notification of acceptance being 5/1/2024-5/15/2024 to allow for arrangement of housing. Rotation dates for the Fall Semester are as follows:
- 7/8/2024-8/2/2024
- 8/5/2024-8/30/2024
- 9/2/2024-9/27/2024
The Department of Surgery offers fourth-year electives in surgery to visiting medical students enrolled in a LCME accredited medical school during the months of July through September. These four-week rotations are approved and competitively arranged by the department.

Following approval from the Department of Surgery, the applicant will need to complete the application process outlined here. Upon completion of these criteria, you will be allowed to formally apply and be approved as a visiting student. (Until this process is complete, the elective as approved first by the Department is not “official”).
