Faculty Spotlight: Takacs to lead North Central Section of the AUA

Elizabeth B. Takacs, MD, clinical professor in the University of Iowa Department of Urology, is serving as president-elect of the North Central Section (NCS) of the American Urological Association for 2022-23. After serving the one-year term as president-elect, Dr. Takacs will assume the office of NCS president for 2023-24.

Dr. Takacs has held multiple leadership roles in the organization, including serving as secretary from 2019 to 2022. From this role, she ascends to her current position of president-elect and then president.

She is the first female urologist to serve as secretary and will be the first female president of the section.

“It has been an incredible honor and privilege to be part of the section leadership, and I look forward to my new roles,” Dr. Takacs says. “I hope that in the coming years I can continue to guide and evolve the section.”

Her ascension to president-elect was announced formally on August 30 in Chicago during the 96th annual meeting of the NCS.

A 1999 graduate of the UI Carver College of Medicine, Dr. Takacs joined the Department of Urology faculty in 2006.
