Deeded Body memorial service

The Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology in the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine will hold its annual memorial service for the Deeded Body Program at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at Oakland Cemetery, 1000 Brown St., in Iowa City.

In the event of bad weather, the service will be held at 2 p.m. in the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 140 Gathering Place Lane, in Iowa City

The memorial service, which was established in 1968, honors those whose donated bodies aided in the advancement of medical education and science at the UI through studies completed during the past year.

Students who benefited from the donations will participate in the service. Noelle Andrew, associate director of spiritual services at UI Hospitals & Clinics, and John Engelhardt, professor and chair of anatomy and cell biology, also will deliver remarks.

Seating is not provided at the outdoor ceremony. Attendees may bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
