Pete Snyder, MD
Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and Development
Dr. Snyder has primary responsibility for the human resources and faculty development activities of the office. His efforts include creating and administering policies and guidance related to faculty members’ appointments, onboarding activities, annual reviews, and promotions and tenure. Snyder also leads the efforts relating to career development opportunities for faculty through programming and events. Outside of the office he is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, serves as the department's vice chair for faculty advancement, and holds a faculty appointment in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics.
Paul Casella, MFA
Academic/Scientific Editorial Manager
Paul is a teacher, editor, consultant, and presentation skills coach. A graduate of Dartmouth College and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, he has presented over 3000 seminars on written and spoken communication skills to physicians and scientists at medical centers and meetings across North America and Europe. A founding member of the Health Care Communications Group, Paul authored two chapters of their award-winning book Writing, Speaking, and Communication Skills for Health Professionals (Yale University Press 2001). In 2000 Paul began working for the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development, leading seminars, editing manuscripts and grant applications, coaching speakers, and otherwise serving the advanced communication needs of the faculty. He also holds the title of adjunct assistant professor.
Jessica Frahm, MA
HR Specialist
Jessica has worked for the University of Iowa for 6+ years, beginning in the Carver College of Medicine Office of Student Affairs and Curriculum before joining the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development. She serves as the Collegiate Faculty HR Representative for the CCOM and the primary liaison for faculty concerns to the Office of the Provost, Official of Institutional Equity and other campus offices. Outside of work, Jessica enjoys traveling, attending sporting events, and spending time with family and friends.
Cindy Bohling
Administrative Services Coordinator
Cindy serves as the coordinator of a variety of faculty development meetings and events. She is the first point of contact for our office, and serves as the primary support person for Associate Dean Pete Snyder. In addition to her support role, she manages the office events calendar and website.
