SUDEP Research Program

SUDEP, or Sudden Death from Epilepsy, is a fatal complication of epilepsy (PDF icon SUDEP Informational Handout).  The UIHC SUDEP research program seeks to understand the underlying causes of this tragic outcome in order to prevent it.  Please see the information below about key members, what epilepsy is, and who is leading the fight to help those suffering.  Also, we are proud to be a part of a new NINDS initiative called The Center for SUDEP Research, a Center Without Walls for Collaborative Research in the Epilepsies.  The SUDEP research program is associated with the Epilepsy subspecialty clinic.
