Jamieson honored with 2023 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation David E. Rogers Award

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation David E. Rogers Award, presented by the Association of American Medical Colleges, recognizes a medical school faculty member who has made major contributions to improving public health and health care. University of Iowa Vice President for Medical Affairs and Tyrone D. Artz Dean of the Carver College of Medicine Denise Jamieson, MD, MPH, was selected with the 2023 award in honor of her commitment to advancing women's health.

Athletic Training Residency Program granted initial accreditation

The Athletic Training Residency Program, part of the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine’s Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, was granted its first accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Fewer than 20 post-professional programs, including residency and fellowship training programs, have earned this accreditation.

University of Iowa neuroscientist Calvin Carter wins NIH Director’s New Innovator Award for exceptional research

Calvin Carter, PhD, assistant professor of neuroscience and pharmacology, is one of 58 early-career scientists from across the nation to receive a 2023 NIH Director’s New Innovator Award. Carter will use the five-year, $1.5-million award to support his innovative research mapping the biological effects of electromagnetic fields, which are pervasive in modern society, from Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to radio waves and the naturally occurring fields of the Earth.
