Culturally Responsive Health Care Award

The Culturally Responsive Health Care Award is presented to the individual or group that has made conscious decisions to practice culturally responsive health care. This entails activities such as finding out a patient’s history of illness, their beliefs around health care and alternative treatments, and taking care to prevent any language barriers from getting in the way of quality care.

Nominations can be made for individuals or groups, and the recipient can be faculty, staff, or students. The winners of the award will be honored at the Martin Luther King Jr. Distinguished Lecture, part of UI Health Care Human Rights Week, Jan. 16-20, 2023.

Deadline for submissions: Friday December 16, 2022

Please submit two letters of recommendation for your nominee. Each letter should be no more than one page in length.  If you have any questions, please email medicine-diversity@uiowa.edu.
