Q&A with Stephanie Saey: Contributing to patient care through scientific innovation

Stephanie Saey, a third-year medical student, is looking forward to the annual Medical Student Research Conference. Though not certain if she will present at this year’s conference due to data collection still underway, she is eager to see the projects her peers have been working on. Saey participated in the research conference as an M1 and M2 and is also pursuing the Research Distinction Track at the Carver College of Medicine.

Anthony Piscopo is in his second year of medical school and will be presenting his first-in-human study results of recording the activity inside arteries of awake patients. His research will be presented at the Carver College of Medicine 2021 Medical Student Research Conference September 15-16.

‘A stronger sense of community’: new UI Center seeks to bridge gaps for Iowans with intellectual and developmental disabilities

As the number of IDD diagnoses increases, University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital Center for Disabilities and Development (CDD) and the Iowa Neuroscience Institute (INI) are joining forces with other researchers, clinicians, physicians, and scientists across the UI enterprise to form a new center aimed at advancing care for Iowans with IDDs.
