Dedication of Iowa Neuroscience Institute marks new era of brain research at the UI

Carver Trust at a Feb. 3 dedication ceremony celebrating the opening of the Iowa Neuroscience Institute and the $45 million Carver Trust grant that helped make the establishment of the institute possible.

How diabetes harms the heart

Diabetes is hard on the heart. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in people with diabetes, and risk for heart failure—where the heart can’t pump enough blood—is two to three times higher in men and up to five times higher in women with diabetes compared to people without diabetes.
