National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI On Campus at Carver College of Medicine) is a new organization with a mission to raise awareness, destigmatize, and normalize the experience of mental illness in health care providers and students. We believe that people with mental illness should be able to live meaningful lives and have thriving professional careers. We hope to engage students who live with mental illness, but also students that want to learn more about mental illness and support their peers. The primary goal is to provide support and access to resources for medical and PA students in the CCOM community who have experienced mental illness. Additionally, we will strive to provide training and education for those interested in learning to support their peers and colleagues who struggle with mental illness. We hope to promote early identification and help seeking in those who need it in order fulfill our full potential as people and professionals.
